Zia A. Lewis joined Graham Thompson’s Freeport Office as an Associate in January 2016 after completing her pupilage with the Firm.  During her pupilage, she worked closely with Partners in both the Litigation Practice Group and the Property/Development Practice Group on a wide range of transactional matters.

Zia began her legal studies at Holborn College in London, England, where she obtained a Foundation in Law Degree with Distinction in 2007. She then went on to attain her Bachelors in Law with Honors from the University of Manchester, England.  Thereafter, she completed the Bar Professional Training Course at The College of Law, London, England.  She further obtained a Masters Degree in Commercial & Maritime Law at the University of London, England.

As a member of both the Litigation Practice Group and the Property Development Practice Group, Zia’s areas of practice include real property acquisitions and sales, domestic mortgages, private and commercial leases, employment disputes, divorce and matrimonial matters, judicial reviews and other civil and commercial disputes.

Representative work includes:

  • Assisting lead counsel in a judicial review matter involving the consultation process surrounding the extension of the Hawksbill Creek Agreement;
  • Assisting as junior counsel on behalf of a private tertiary level institution in a successful judicial review application;
  • Generally advising an energy storage and trans-shipment company in Grand Bahama on its labour and employment matters; and
    • Various mortgage and conveyancing transactions.
