Tanya R. Hanna is a Partner in the Firm’s Nassau office. Tanya’s specialty is trust law, and she has represented many major trust companies as well as private individuals in a wide spectrum of trust and corporate matters.

Tanya’s experience extends to advising clients on all aspects of estate planning including the preparation of wills and trust instruments.

Tanya recently wrote an article on the “Complexities of Cross-Border Corporate Law Issues” and provided information on updated Bahamas corporate law to Corporate International Magazine.

Tanya received the prestigious Founders Award for Outstanding Achievement from STEP in February 2016, for extraordinary service and meritorious accomplishments in advancing the aims and objectives of STEP worldwide.

In December 2016, Tanya was included in the Citywealth 2016 Powerwomen Top 200 listing, which recognizes  “200 of the most powerful women in government, private wealth, education, private client advisory and philanthropy across the international financial centres.”  

Recent transactions include:

  • Advising on a wide array of corporate and trust law issues for the restructuring of an offshore trust company.
  • Facilitating the conversion of a trust company to a private trust company, which required Central Bank of The Bahamas cooperation and approvals throughout the course of the transition.
  • Providing estate planning advice to a high net worth international family, with special emphasis on determining the most appropriate structures to meet the client’s financial objectives.  Ultimately, a private trust company, purpose trust, foundation and trust were formed to meet this client’s needs.
  • Providing corporate law advice to international law firms and multinational companies in connection with international finance structures involving Bahamian companies and assets; and
  • Providing advice on a major pension plan restructuring, including reviewing, revising and drafting documents necessary to effect the restructure.
